How can I get rid of Trojan Horse and how on earth did it get on my pc?
October 11th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I appear to have 4 or 5 different versions of Trojan horse on my pc and I need to clear it. I cleared temporary internet files and ‘de-fragmented’ my pc, I have run virus scans but my anti- virus says it blocks the virus from sending out info from my pc. Please advise me as to what to do to remove this pest! Thank you.

Try spybot, pretty useful. And you got it just as the name implies. They sneak it in under the guise of something your computer will accept, just like the old Trojan Horse story.

OK, this can be fixed with the right tools and methodologies. Please visit and visit the forum or click on the “troubleshooting” link. There it will describe the process (e.g. turning off System Restore so any infections are not restored to your system) and also using the right tools such as McAfee Stinger and various antispyware tools (all linked from that source). Please post back with your findings.
As for how you got it, possibly a website or a file on a removable device you may have connected to your PC? Is your antivirus always up-to-date? Any firewall running? Any antispyware software running? All this is a good idea and covered at the source once more.
Good luck!

Use an anti-virus like symantec or McAfee if you want to be extra-safe but otherwise you can use any number of free programs. I would suggest a store-bought anti-virus though because some free “anti-viruses” are actually trojans/viruses themselves.

If you have ever downloaded ANYTHING then it is very likely the trojan was stored in the file. If you download computer updates from anywhere except your OS’s website then it is very likely that you didn’t download an update but instead a virus.

(By the way in case you were wondering a trojan is just like a virus except it cannot reproduce itself.)

You are infected with spyware if:
* You see too much pop-up advertisements.
* Your browser has toolbars that you haven’t installed.
* Your homepage has changed (and you can’t change it back).
* Other settings have changed without your permission.
* Your computer is slow.
To get rid of spyware and keep your computer clean you can use an antispyware or even more.
You can download a antispyware software. There are 10 good anti-spywares.
